The Family Health Bureau works to improve the health of women, children and families in New Mexico through policy, surveillance, assurance, and direct services provided to reproductive age women, infants, children, adolescents and their families, including children and youth with special healthcare needs. The staff in the bureau work to bring federal funds to New Mexico and provide guidance and oversight of program services provided in the regional health offices.

Why does the job exist?

The Family Health Bureau is the lead Bureau for Maternal Child Epidemiology and surveillance for several programs including the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA). This position will position applies descriptive and complex statistical analysis skills to public health prevention and health status initiatives throughout the state of New Mexico.

How does it get done?

This position will perform the following high job duties:

Uses statistical software to perform analysis and create reports on maternal and child health status for various programs.
Uses systems including but not limited to REDCap, CARA database, NM Healthy Families site and other platforms to manage and collect data.
Provides analytic support to program evaluation and monitoring for Title V programs, CARA and partners
Contributes to grant reporting and performance reporting for federal and state funding streams.

Ideal Candidate

Has professional experience creating and interpreting statistical analysis programs
Has experience in the public sector, public health or health systems
Can work independently and with team members on complex projects
Can manage time, deadlines and priorities with little supervision

Minimum Qualification

Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Sciences, Social Sciences, or Statistics and one (1) year in Public Health to include data analysis and linking methodology. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds and some travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
