Job Description

Emergency Response Clinician

Location: Cornwall, NY
Salary: $65,000–$68,000 annually (potential up to $70,000 based on experience)

About Us

We are a trusted nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and behavioral health needs throughout New York’s Hudson Valley. Through innovative, community-based programs and crisis response initiatives, we empower individuals to lead healthier, more independent lives. Join a team that values compassion, professional development, employee wellness, and making a real impact.

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Emergency Response Clinician to join our first responder team. In this vital role, you will work alongside EMS to help reduce opioid-related overdoses, deliver immediate crisis interventions, and facilitate transitions to recovery programs or care facilities. You will also provide ongoing community-based and in-home support, collaborating closely with a peer advocate.

This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity — not per diem or contract — offering meaningful fieldwork without on-call demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergency and community crisis calls alongside EMS.

  • Deliver immediate clinical interventions, crisis de-escalation, and support.

  • Facilitate smooth transitions to inpatient facilities, treatment programs, or other care services.

  • Partner with a peer advocate to provide continued community-based and in-home support.

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with program standards.

  • Advocate for multi-pathways to recovery during all client interactions.

  • Complete required advocacy training within six months of hire.

Qualifications

  • Active licensure as a Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts (LPHA), including:

    • LMSW or LCSW

    • LMHC

    • LMFT

    • Licensed Creative Arts Therapist

    • Licensed Occupational Therapist

    • Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently in the field.

  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and access to reliable personal transportation.

  • Comfortable managing crisis situations in diverse community settings.

  • Working knowledge of substance use disorder recovery processes and principles.

  • Personal or lived experience with recovery (self, family, or close relation) and willingness to engage in appropriate self-disclosure.

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

  • Excellent data entry, written communication, and verbal presentation skills.

  • Additional certifications or specialized training in mental health or substance use recovery are a plus.

Why Join Us?

  • Supportive, employee-centered culture

  • Mission-driven work making a tangible difference

  • Opportunities for ongoing training and professional growth

  • Meaningful collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
